Fun at the JA Show 2015 Part 1

For someone like me, who’s passion is all things jewelry,  spending a day playing with gorgeous jewelry, talking with talented designers, and being given the privilege of photographing said jewelry is just plain fun. I can’t lie, being a jewelry blogger is amazing

This past Monday, I hit the 2015 JA Show. The last time I attended this show was in 2010, when I was still a GIA student. The location might be the same, but that was pretty much the only thing unchanged. I was so impressed with how many amazing, female designers there were. For many years jewelry was designed by men for women. Women have started to reclaim this field, and that is just an amazing thing. Trailblazers like the Gumuchians, who started by women for women have really opened the field up, for so many of the amazing young designers launching their lines today. It is absolutely inspiring, because in case you hadn’t already figured it out, I am all about empowering other women. We gotta support our sisters ladies!

So let’s get on to the jewelry I saw some absolutely incredible things. Like the bee pendant from Gumuchian. It features a 24.5 carat citrine set in 18k yellow gold, and surrounded by a girl’s best friend, diamonds. Part of the proceeds from this line go to honeylove an organization devoted to preserving urban beekeeping, after all food doesn’t grow all that well with the pollination that bees provide. Buy jewelry and give charity, kinda hard to say no.

The multi-finger and full finger rings are having a moment.I love these and featured one in my Wendy Brandes interview. I saw some amazing ones, like this heart one from Hidalgo Jewelry, done in 18k yellow gold, with diamonds.

KGM Industries also had some standouts like this multifinger floral pretty, full finger leaf motif beauty, and lace look stunner.

Anzie Jewelry was doing some great work with gold and gemstones. I had such fun chatting with designer Jaclyn, who took some fun photos of me wearing their amazing earrings. Check my instagram to see the pic. I was absolutely taken with some of their incredible pendants, especially that starburst. I’m a sucker for celestial themes.
