If you’re not a gem nerd like me, you may never heard have heard of Rutilated Quartz. Rutilated Quartz is one of my favorite stones out there mostly because it reminds me that flaws and imperfections when added together can create a thing of beauty. Quartz generally is a clear transparent stone, devoid of flaws. Rutilated quartz is quartz that has grown with lots of rutiles, otherwise known as imperfections.
They can come in a few different colors, including black, red, and gold; my favorite. Fun fact, they are the same flaw found in sapphires that give them that velvety appearance. I love that they look almost other worldy, with the luminescent glow the rutile needles give off.
Also like other stones, whose flaws are their greatest feature, each stone is unique because the rutiles grow differently in each piece of quartz, which makes every piece of rutilated quartz jewelry so special.
As you can tell I’m kind of obsessed with this gorgeous gem. So tell me, what do you think? Are you a fan?
I love to hear from all of you. Comments. emails, and suggestions are welcome.
